Welcome to Platbakkies Tallow Treats, a small, family-run business rooted in the rugged beauty of Namaqualand, South Africa. More than just a brand, we’re a family with a shared passion for clean living, traditional wisdom, and the healing power of nature.
Our farm, Platbakkies, is where it all begins — a piece of land with a rich legacy, nestled between the Northern Cape’s wild beauty and the quiet strength of generations who’ve worked the soil with care. Here, we raise our animals the way nature intended: organically, ethically, and on open pastures. The result? Pure, nutrient-rich tallow that forms the heart of every product we create.
A Family on a Mission
Farmer Dawie — our dad and tallow producer — was born and raised on Platbakkies. With decades of experience and a lifelong love for the land, he ensures our animals live well so that our products reflect integrity from the ground up.
Lizelle, our founder and heart of the business, began this journey out of a deep desire to live simply, sustainably, and in alignment with the way God created us to thrive. Her pursuit of a cleaner lifestyle led her to tallow — a traditional, vitamin-rich fat that mirrors the oils naturally found in human skin — and she hasn’t looked back since.
Kari, who grew up right here on the farm, handles our marketing and distribution. With a passion for education and natural health, she’s the one answering your messages, sharing our story online, and making sure your order gets to you with love and care.
Malindi, born on Platbakkies too, brings her experience in web design and her own powerful healing journey into the mix. After overcoming lifelong health challenges through a fully natural, ancestral lifestyle, she’s now dedicated to helping others rediscover the truth about real nourishment and healing.

Tallow is a time-honored skincare ingredient, rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K — nutrients your skin craves. It’s biologically compatible with human skin, which means it absorbs easily, nourishes deeply, and doesn’t clog pores or cause irritation. Unlike conventional products packed with chemicals and preservatives, our tallow products work with your body, not against it.
At Tallow Treats, we go a step further than most by using only suet — the pure, nutrient-dense fat found around the kidneys — rather than general body fat. Suet is naturally more stable, cleaner, and richer in skin-supporting vitamins, making it especially compatible with your skin’s own oils. This means it absorbs beautifully, supports a healthy skin barrier, and is gentle even on sensitive or reactive skin. Sourced from pasture-raised animals, our suet-based tallow reflects our commitment to quality, simplicity, and traditional skincare that truly works with your body, not against it.
