We’re a small, family-run business based in the rugged beauty of Namaqualand, South Africa. Platbakkies isn’t just our brand name — it’s our home, our heritage, and the land we love.
Our tallow is proudly produced by our dad, Dawie, a lifelong farmer who was born and raised right here. With generations of knowledge behind him, he raises pasture-raised animals with care and respect for the land.
Our mom, Lizelle, brings warmth, creativity, and a passion for clean living to everything we do. Together, we handcraft our products in small batches using real, skin-loving ingredients — and zero nasties.

Every product we make is rooted in our belief that less is more — especially when it comes to your skin. We use organic, pasture-raised tallow, blended with thoughtfully chosen oils like jojoba, castor, coconut, olive, shea butter, and essential oils such as lavender and rosemary.

All products are made in small batches, packaged sustainably (often with recycled or plastic-free materials), and created with a whole lot of love.
Why Tallow?
Unlike conventional skincare loaded with synthetic fragrances, preservatives, and hormone disruptors, tallow is a time-tested, bioavailable ingredient. Rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, it nourishes and protects your skin at a cellular level.
Tallow closely resembles the structure of our own skin’s oils, making it incredibly effective for healing, moisturizing, and restoring balance — especially for sensitive or problem-prone skin.
